REGULATIONS SOPOT FESTIVAL - a passport to the Eastern Countries entertainment. 1. THE 25th INTERNATIONAL SONG FESTIVAL SOPOT '88 will be held traditionally in Sopot from 17th to 20th of August 1988. 2. Singers and vocal-instrumental groups can take part in the Sopot Festival when introduced by: - record companies - radio and TV stations - artists agencies. 3. Ali festival concerts are broadcasted by radio and TV and transmitted to the countries associated in INTERVISION and EUROVISION. 4. The participants are obliged to take part in two contests: a) "THE GRAND PRIX OF SOPOT '88" held on 17th and 18th of August. Each singer or group per-forms two songs. The international jury evaluates the performance as a whole: attractivness and artistic value of the presentation and its interpre-tation. In "THE GRAND PRIX" contest only light musie songs may be presented, excluding stan-dards and well known melodies with the excep-tion of hits brought out by the performer or group taking part in the competition. b) "THE AMBER NIGHTINGALE" held on 19th of August 1988. Each singer or group performs one song by a Polish composer in any language - ex-cluding Polish. In due course the Organizers will send the list of Polish songs to be chosen from. Polish performers do not take part in this contest. Polish jury estimates the interpretation of the song. c) The Gala Concert will take place 20th of August. 5. The festival competitors will be awarded the fol-lowing prizes: a) "THE GRAND PRIX of SOPOT '88 - "The Amber Record" and - 250.000 zloty - second prize - 200.000 zloty - third prize - 150.000 zloty b) "THE AMBER NIGHTINGALE" a trophy and - 250.000 zloty - second prize 200.000 zloty - third prize - 150.000 zloty c) "THE CRISTAL TUNING FORK" - a trophy - the prize for the best arrangement of Polish song founded by "The Union of Polish Authors and Composers - ZAKR" d) THE JOURNALISTS PRIZE" e) "THE AUDIENCE PRIZE" f) Some other awards founded by Polish and fere-ign sponsors are allowed. 6. The Festival Organizers cover the fuli expenses of: a) round trip air tickets on board of Polish Airlines "LOT" for a singer, a group and one composer or orchestra conductor or manager b) hotel accommodation in Poland during the Festi-val c) fuli meals during the stay in Poland in the period defined by the Organizers d) free tickets to all festival events. 7. Besides, the soloist singers will receive pocket money in the amount of 20.000 zloty while each member of a group 15.000 zloty and the representa-tives of the institutions 10.000 zloty. 8. All the expenses cashed in Polish currency are not transferable abroad. 9. Each entry should enclose: a) the name of performer, date of birth, black--white photos, colour slides 6*6 or 6*9, an artistic biography, records, tapes, cassettes and first of all video-cassettes VHS, b) songs proposed to "THE GRAND PRIX OF SOPOT '88" should be presented in one the following forms: - demo casette - record - cassette - VIDEO-CASSETTE VHS provided with a note including a title, names of the composers, and the author, c) two copies of the original text of the proposed songs and one copy in English translation. 11. After receiving the admission of the performer and proposed songs, the Organizers will inform about the orchestra composure (a big band with a violin quartet). The complete musie materiał including the fuli orchestra score and the separate instruments scores should be sent to the above given address by 30th of June 1988. 12. EXPENSES OF THE ARRANGEMENTS TO BE CO-VERED BY THE INSTITUTION INTRODUCING THE SINGER ORTHE GROUP. 13. An incomplete application disqualifies the entry. 14. Applications with all the materials enclosed are not returnable. 15. The Festival Organizers reserve the exclusive right to: a) fuli or part radio and TV broadcasting of the festival concerts, b) sound and picture recording of the festival concerts on all means of recording to secure unli-mited and frequent radio and TV broadcasting as a whole or a take composing*an independent part, c) sell or free exchange of recorded festival concerts witb foreign radio and TV stations in order to broadcast them as a whole or a take composing an independent part on conditions defined by the Organizers. d) use by themselves or with their approval by the third party all the advertising materials of the festival participants sent by the introducing institutions, e) publish the recordings of the festival events on records cassettes, or video - cassettes without any additional payment to the participants of the festival contests. 16.
